Impressive Korea starts World Cup with a bang

Korea came from behind to beat the Czech Republic 2-1 on Thursday evening (local time) in Guadalajara to start the 2026 World Cup with a deserved win, even if it was touch and go for a while. Some missed chances meant that for a while, it looked like the points were slipping away, but in the end it was a fine performance from coach Hong Myung-bo’s men. The Taegeuk Warriors' first opening win at the World Cup since 2010 sets them up nicely to get out Group A and into the knockout stages. The three points are welcome, but so is the fact that Korea played some exciting and attractive soccer, in contrast to the physical Czechs who mostly threatened from set pieces. Hwang In-beom was the star; the midfielder scored a fine equalizer and then assisted Oh Hyeon-gyu for the winning goal. After all the pretournament criticism and uncertainty, there were big smiles on the faces of the Korean players and their army of fans in Mexico. The first half belonged to the 2002 semifinalists. Lee Kang-in was pulling the strings going forward, picking out passes and finding space. Son Heung-min is still th

4 ways to hit your tee shots longer

By Kim Jeong-kyooTo increase your distance, you need to set up properly. To this end, you must aim your club first. That allows you to swing your club on plane and hit your intended target accurately. To aim your club properly, draw an imaginary line from your ball to your target. That is your target line. Pick an intermediate spot on your target line about five feet in front of you. Square your club to the intermediate target and then take your stance.Once you’ve addressed your ball properly, you don’t need to worry much about your direction. Just focus on increasing the separation between your shoulders and hips. Put differently, you need to turn your shoulders more, restricting your hip turn.Several other ways here will help you increase your clubhead speed, allowing you to hit farther. They will also help you swing your club on plane and hit your ball solidly. Without solid hit, there is no way you can hit your ball far to the best of your abilities. 1. Rio Olympics are still under a shadow

South Korean sharpshooter Jin Jong-oh / YonhapBy Valter JuniorPORTO ALEGRE, Brazil —  Majors concerns are always linked to mega-events; in relation to the Olympics, in Athens, for instance, many doubted that all was going to be ready on time.In Beijing in 2008, the problem was the city’s pollution. Four years later in London, terrorism was the main concern. Now, Rio de Janeiro has gathered all of them plus the Brazilian political crisis and Zika virus together. A few days after the city was chosen as the host of the 2016 Olympics Games, the event was already living under the shadows, where it still remains. With 100 days to go until the opening ceremony, it seems that the biggest sporting event of the planet will shine just a fortnight before the competitions begin. In 2009, when Rio won the bid to receive the Olympics, Brazil was already thinking about the 2014 World Cup. After the football tournament, the Games were overshadowed by an economic and political crisis that is now reaching its peak.An actress, playing the role of High Priestess, holds up a torch

Brazil is believed to be the country hit hardest by Zika. The mosquito-borne virus is almost always non-life threatening, causing only mild symptoms like fevers, joint and muscle pain, headaches and bloodshot eyes. However, it can cause microcephaly in unborn children, a debilitating condition of a baby being born with an abnormally small head and brain. There is currently no vaccine to prevent the disease or drug to treat it, causing South Korea to tell its athletes to avoid mosquito bites. South Korean athletes who have already visited Brazil for international competitions have expressed that mosquitoes are a concern."I had a lot of stress because of mosquitoes," said three-time Olympic shooting champion Jin Jong-oh after competi
