/ YonhapTwelve students received perfect scores in Korea's national College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT) last month, reports said after the results were sent out Wednesday. Three of the students receiving the highest possible score had the same name ― Lee Seung-min ― according to Yonhap News Agency.Two of them were from the same class at Daegu's Gyeongshin High School and the other from Seoul's Yangjung High School.Two other students at Gyeongshin High School received a perfect score, giving the school the highest number of perfect scores in the nation.

Two arrested for cutting electric wire from poles

                                                                                                                                / AP photoTwo men were arrested on Tuesday for illegally stealing 9.1 kilometers of wiring from electric poles, Munhwa Ilbo reports.According to Gyeongnam Namhae Police Station, a man surnamed Lee, 55, and a man surnamed Jeong, 46, have been charged with theft. Police said the men had stolen wire from several places in Gyeongnam Province.In one instance last month, they allegedly cut 1.2 kilometers of wire from poles in a village in Namhae.The men, who met at a board game club, stole the wire in sparsely populated rural areas, police said.

Fireworks near beaches to be fined

/ YonhapA fine is to be imposed on people that light up fireworks near the beach without permission from the local government office, according to Yonhap News Agency.The beach law is to include an article that forbids the usage of fireworks and various activities, along with operating mobile motor toys, installing facilities without permission, and entering the waters outside the designated period of time.Those who fail to abide by this law will be fined an amount of 100,000 won ($90.39) or less.In addition, driving an automobile, a motorcycle, or a bicycle in the beach as well as smoking during opening hours will be fined 100,000 won.Water sports such as banana boat or water skiing will be given a separate space in the water. If trespassed into the swimming spaces, a fine of 500,000 won ($452.30) will be imposed for the first time, and 1,000,000 won ($904.61) for the third time.

One-third of plastic surgery patients 'unsatisfied'

By Lee Ji-hyeKorea is known for its high rate of plastic surgery as well as the accessibility of such procedures. However, a recent consumer study shows that around one-third of those who go under the knife are not satisfied with the outcome. The Korea Consumer Agency (KCA) conducted a survey on 1,000 cosmetic surgery patients over the course of three years. Among them, 323 people (32.3 percent) replied that the results were “unsatisfactory” while 170 people (17 percent) said they ended up with asymmetrical structures, scars or infections. Among the patients, 678 people received double-eyelid surgery, 256 people had nose jobs, and 110 people had facial contour surgeries. Some had multiple procedures. The KCA said it had received 16,354 calls about plastic surgery and clinics over the past three years. It said the number of people seeking advice on plastic surgery has been on the rise.
