Starbucks 'lucky bag' sells out quickly

/Korea Times file Starbucks fans rushed to stores to grab a “lucky bag,” which sold out in three hours on Thursday, company officials said.Lucky bags, a random selection of goodies worth 100,000 won, were offered for 49,000 won at 670 stores nationwide. The bags contain mugs, tumblers and free drink vouchers.According to the company, 15,000 lucky bags were sold by 10 a.m. Opening hours vary from 7 a.m.to 10 a.m.“The special edition mug designed for the year of the sheep was very popular as it was available only in our lucky bags,” a Starbucks Korea spokesperson said.In an increasingly competitive market, cafe chains have turned to promotional events to lure customers. Hostage killer

They also give his family a camera, with which the comedians take pictures of the patient and his family. They also watched video messages to the patient.The visit took place on Nov. 21, a newspaper quoted Song as saying on Thursday. Noh Hong-chul spotted in Spain after DUI

Noh Hong-chul spotted in Barcelona, Spain / Courtesy of Naver cafeComedian and television star Noh Hong-chul, who was busted for drunk driving last year, appears to be spending his time in Barcelona, according to photos circulating online.  Noh has been out of the public eye since being booked for driving under the influence in southern Seoul in November.  Dressed in a skinny jeans and a hooded jacket, and sporting a beard, the 37-year-old entertainer appeared to be enjoying his time in the three photos.  Local media outlets reported that the photos were taken by a Korean tourist. The person spotted Noh, took the photos and sent them to his friend, who posted them online. Netizens showed a mixed reaction. Some were happy to see the star for the first time in months. Others said his beard made him look disheveled.

Teenagers attempt double suicide in Han River

Two teenagers jumped into the Han this week in a double suicide attempt but were rescued. / AFP-Yonhap Two teenage girls who met online attempted suicide by jumping into the Han River in Seoul early Tuesday morning, local police said Wednesday.Shortly after they plunged into the water, a passerby reported the scene to the police. A rescue team was immediately dispatched and managed to rescue them.They were moved to a nearby hospital to be treated for hypothermia. They are reportedly in stable condition.The teenagers, 19 and 15, reportedly met at on an online café focused on suicide. They kept in touch via social media. “To prevent the recurrence of such incidents, the government should amend the current law to prohibit the operation of online suicide sites,” a police official said. Because the teenagers were rescued, “there is no way to make the homepage operator face legal measures.”
