Hostage killer

Listen

Kim Sang-hoon, who allegedly killed his wife’s ex-husband and his stepdaughter during a hostage siege in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, speaks to reporters in front of Danwon Police Station, Thursday, as he is moved to a court for a hearing on a police request for a detention warrant against him. Kim, 46, showed little remorse for his act, claiming he is also a “victim.” He claimed he killed his wife’s ex-husband Tuesday because he thought his wife was having an affair with him. He took hostage the ex-husband’s girlfriend and two stepdaughters, and killed one of the two stepdaughters. Kim said he killed her because he became “angry” during negotiations with police over the hostages. Kim was apprehended by police SWAT team on Wednesday after an overnight siege. / Yonhap
