Indians to mark Diwali

By John Redmond The Indians in Korea (IIK) group will celebrate Diwali 2010 at Kyung Hee University, Seoul from 3 p.m. to 6.30 p.m on Nov. 7. The events scheduled for Diwali, or “Festival of Light,” include Indian buffet dinner, Punjabi folk dance, Bollywood songs and dance and prizes and lotteries. The IIK group’s main focus is to bring Indians under one umbrella and interact freely in Korea. They help Indians settle and make them feel at home in Korea with the help of lively discussion groups, meetings, get together parties and social cultural activities. According to an official, the IIK claims the honor or dishonor goes to the country as a whole. “Keeping in mind to raise the country’s name and fame as well as our own, we should help each other and make our lives more comfortable in our stay in Korea. “Same as last year, IIK hopes to receive a huge response from all the Indians as well as other people in and around Seoul. Hence the IIK Diwali celebration would be the best platform to promote the culture of India.” The cost is 20,000 won perperson.
