(358) Can saju read one's vocation?

By Janet ShinCould it be really possible to predict one’s occupation by reading their saju? Most people are not convinced when it comes to the rationale of saju and its translation. One may even be cynical deeming it a mere farfetched speculation. It is actually hard to be completely free of any kind of preconceptions derived by people’s facial impression, how they are dressed, their way of speaking and other bearings when we are to read one’s situation without even mentioning destiny. As a professional saju expert, I also analyze information presented by the person, which is actually one of the skills of a fortuneteller. However, more and more people are having online saju consultations nowadays without a face-to-face meeting. In this case, it is truly the saju master’s competence to read the client’s situation under the veil of ignorance only with their birth records. Saju, composed by one’s birth year, month, date and hour, is the core information we have to make a judgment.Recently one of my students on our study group chat asked questions about

'Lifting': the perfect solution for a slimmer face

By Lee Han-soo/ Courtesy of M Aesthetic Surgery ClinicKorea has seen rising interest in looking young and attractive in a rapidly aging society. This interest, which was limited to people in their 30s and 40s, has changed in recent years. Now people in their 20s, who are also looking to become more attractive, are seeking a simple but effective treatment to fulfill their needs.“We have seen a steady increase in women in their mid-20s who want to have a thin chin line in recent years,” Park Jung-soo, head of the M Aesthetic Surgery Clinic, said.Lifting, which is a procedure that tightens skin that has drooped with age, is one of the best and simplest ways, Park said.Initially, patients considered lifting was risky because it required a precise incision in the face. But with recent developments, the procedure has become more of a treatment than surgery.Treatments include “thread lift,” a minimally invasive method that inserts special threads to lift and contour the face, and “laser lift,” which induces protein degeneration by applying heat at a

By Ko Dong-hwanColonoscopy / Korea Times fileA major Seoul hospital has performed Korea’s first fecal microbiota transplants, also known as stool transplants, giving new hope to people suffering bowel discomfort.Yonsei University Health System in Seodaemun-gu recently launched a team of experts from the departments of gastroenterology, laboratory medicine and infectious diseases dedicated to the treatment, according to the Hankook Ilbo on Monday. The transplants will only be available to patients with clostridium difficile infection, caused by the spore-forming bacterium clostridium difficile, which can lead to watery diarrhea, fever, nausea and abdominal pain.“The method has proven highly effective in practices in the U.S. and Europe,” Prof. Park, of the hospital’s gastroenterology department, said. “After our substantial treatment records are accumulated, the method could later become an alternative treatment for infectious enteropathy patients suffering from ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome.”The transplant has been hailed in North A
