Wife of dead policeman offered job

Wang, second to left, widow of a dead police officer, receives an award from President Park Geun-hye on the 69th Police Day on October 21. / YonhapThe widow of a dead police officer was offered a special job position at a police station in southern Korea.Surnamed Wang, the woman, 51, cared for her husband Shin Jong-hwan during his years in a vegetative state, according to the Gwangju Local Police Agency.Shin was in hospital for 14 years after suffering brain damage in a car accident that happened while he was chasing a suspect in 2001, He was dismissed from his post after a year in hospital.According to the South Korean law, the family of a dead police officer qualifies for financial compensation only in the case of death within three years of an accident. Shin's family had taken care of him for 14 years.Gwangju Police Agency has now offered Wang a position as welfare officer at Gwangsan Police Station."I feel comfortable working where my husband used to, and I wish to look after fellow police officers _ especially their health," Wang told Yonhap News Agency.

Scene from "Crying Fist" / Courtesy of YouTubeA man who dropped out of a television fight survival show has been arrested for business meddling and human trafficking, a newspaper reported Monday.Police in Mokpo, South Jeolla province, arrested the man, identified only as Choi, 25, for allegedly repeatedly disrupting operations at a bar since July to help a rival bar. Two accomplices allegedly helped Choi.He is also charged with locking up a female employee from an unknown bar who wanted to quit because of health problems.After his arrest it was found that Choi auditioned for cable network XTM’s “Crying Fist.” He had passed a regional preliminary stage in January but failed to advance.

Professional gamer Park Se-joon won the 2014 Pokemon Video Game World Championship in Washington DC in August. New group imitates Girls' Generation

/ Courtesy of TwitterA new girl group has chosen the legendary high school look that was the trademark of popular hallyu girl band Girls’ Generation.Woollim Entertainment announced on its Twitter page the launch of Lovelyz, an eight-member group pictured on social media dressed as high school students, reminiscent of Girls’ Generation in 2007.Lovelyz is the first girl group Woollim has represented. The company’s most high-profile band is seven-member boy band Infinite, which made its debut in 2010.A local online news channel reported on Monday that influential composer and producer Yoon Sang produced Lovelyz’ debut song.According to the report, Lovelyz will make their first public appearance on Nov. 12 after rolling out their new song two days before.They will make their first stage appearance on Nov. 17.

EXO-K member is greeted with fans as he enters Mexico City International Airport for the performance / YonhapExcited fans threw underwear on to the stage at a Kpop concert which had to be halted temporarily, Yonhap reports.The incident happened during a KBS Music Bank World Tour concert in Mexico City last Thursday while B.A.P. and EXO-K were performing.Officials had to halt the performance and warn fans not to throw underwear.“At first, I was embarrassed, but the Mexican fans’ passion was amazing,” said an EXO-K member.A B.A.P. member said, “Some fans were overexcited, but I could see other responsible fans linking their arms to form a human barricade.”Popular Kpop groups BEAST, EXO-K, Girl’s Day, B.A.P., Ailee and  BTS are on the tour.
