Dozens of people in Pikachu costumes will take to the streets of Seoul on Saturday to celebrate the first Korean to win a world Pokemon championship.

Professional gamer Park Se-joon won the 2014 Pokemon Video Game World Championship in Washington DC in August.

At the two-day Pokemon Champions Day event in Seoul, Pikachu Show Time will be staged four times a day on November 15 and 16, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Dongdaemun Design Plaza.

Other activities include card game competitions, card game classes, pop quizzes and a junior match, including opportunities for younger participants to play against the makers of the Pokemon cards, Creatures Inc.

Winners will receive 200,000 won ($200) in cash.

There will also be an interview with the developers of Pokemon games Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori.

A similar Pokemon Day was held in Yokohama, Japan, in August.
