South Gyeongsang Province governor to be released on bail

South Gyeongsang Province Governor Kim Kyoung-soo / YonhapSouth Gyeongsang Province Gov. Kim Kyoung-soo was set to be released Wednesday after 77 days of detention over opinion rigging.The Seoul High Court approved Kim's request for bail that he made on the grounds that administration works for South Gyeongsang Province is suffering from his absence. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said it had asked the prosecution to request arrest warrants for the two doctors at CHA Bundang Women's Medical Center in Gyeonggi Province, who allegedly organized the destruction of all evidence. In addition to the doctors, seven staff and officials from the hospital have been implicated in the cover-up. Police have been investigating the matter since last July after receiving a report that the hospital had fabricated and concealed the death during a Caesarean section operation in August 2016.According to police, a doctor slipped while carrying the newborn baby after the operation and dropped the baby on the floor of the operating theater. She said the celebrity injected meth into her while she was sleeping and they used it together several times early this year as well, according to the police.As rumors grew that the celebrity was Park, the singer denied it at a press conference in Seoul last Wednesday.Park claimed he had never used any illegal drugs, nor had he forced Hwang to use them. By Park Si-soo A Korean man tried to board an Osaka-bound flight with a handgun hidden inside his carry-on baggage, police said Sunday.The weapon was detected on Saturday morning when his baggage underwent X-ray scanning at Incheon International Airport. The Incheon District Court said Sunday it recently acquitted the college student, 22, of violating of the Military Act.The man, whose name was withheld, was indicted in August 2016 for having his weight shoot up before the military health checkup in an alleged attempt to dodge the service.In the checkup, he measured 169.6 centimeters tall and weighed 106 kilograms with a body mass index (BMI) of 36.8.Those with a BMI of 33 or over are classified as overweight, and carry out community service at regional community centers or public organizations instead of being stationed in military camps.The prosecution claimed the student, knowing the rule, tried to gain weight by drinking alcohol and bingeing on fried chicken.
