Kim Hyun-sik’s Son to Appear on Tribute Album

The only son of the late singer, Kim Hyun-sik, will sing two of his father's songs on an album paying tribute to the legendary musician.
Kim, who encompassed a wide range of genres, including jazz, rock, blues and soul, was one of the most popular singers in the 1980s with his unique vocal style that often involved shouting. He died of a liver disease on Nov. 1, 1990 at the age of 32.
His son, Kim Wan-je, 27, will appear on the album to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his father's death, an official from the record company behind the album said. The album will contain 30 songs recorded by top musicians.
Kim is reportedly preparing to debut as a singer.
"We have decided to produce a tribute album to recognize Kim Hyun-sik's achievements in Korean pop music. It will be a good chance to re-evaluate the charms of his music," the official said.
