Harim to import hatchery eggs to increase chicken supply

It will import a total of 2.4 million eggs from August to October. It takes at least 55 days to raise a chicken to full size, the company said.“We will bring in hatchery eggs from other countries to help relieve the unstable supply of chicken here,” Harim CEO Jung Ho-seok said. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a meeting with 10 chicken suppliers in the country, July 13, and requested an expanded meat supply to fight price hikes. The chicken shortage is attributed to the killing of 5.15 million chickens nationwide earlier this year due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
