Five Korean actors and filmmakers have been invited to be Academy Awards voters.
The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) said they are actors Song Kang-ho and Choi Min-sik, and directors Im Kwon-taek, Bong Joon-ho and Kim Sang-jin.
The KOFIC said the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) had sent an email request to the five.
It is the first time Korean movie celebrities have been invited to vote for the world’s most prestigious cinema awards.
A total of 322 people around the world have received an invitation from AMPAS.
