Wheesung set for “I am a Singer”

R&B singer Wheesung will be in the third season of MBC reality show “I Am a Singer.”
Program officials said the singer-songwriter would compete with six other singers.
The audience determines the ranking of the seven singers for two weeks. The singer receiving the lowest score is dropped and replaced. The first person to be dropped will be revealed this week.
Seven singers Park Jung-hyun, Yangpa, Ha Dong-kyun, So Chan-whee, Hyorin from K-pop girl group SISTAR, vocal group Sweet Sorrow and MC the Max front man Lee Soo were supposed to compete for the first round of the season. But Lee was pulled due to a prostitution scandal in 2009.
Six singers have competed for the past two weeks. Wheesung will appear from this week’s episode, which airs on Friday. Modern rock band Monni will also compete from this week. Wheesung and Monni replace Lee and the singer dropped from the program from this week.
Wheesung debuted in 1999 and has gained nationwide popularity. Monni have become more popular since they ranked second in KBS reality program “Top Band 2” in 2012. The rock band made their debut in 2005.
