Quick and healthy meals and snacks are becoming popular in Korea as the number of single-person households rises.
According to Statistics Korea, the proportion of single households reached 23.9 percent last year. The proportion has increased by about 6 percent every year since 2000. This has led to a growing demand for convenience food, which is virtually hassle-free, especially for those who do not have time to cook daily.
The food industry is benefitting as consumers living on their own buy these products and more working professionals are eating at their desks. Korea’s food makers have launched some healthy snacks and frozen meals to meet the growing demand.
Orga Whole Food’s frozen fried rice is a popular convenience food, available in three flavors and suitable for microwaves.
For those on the go, grabbing a cereal bar for breakfast is quick and easy. Organica’s cereal bars, made of almonds, walnuts and cranberries, contain vitamins and proteins that restore energy.
Other popular foods include Ildong Greek Yogurt and Dole Triple Bat Blueberries.
