Veteran actor Jung Ho-geun, 51, claims he has recently been formally deified and will begin his second life as a shaman.

Jeong told Korean lifestyle magazine “Housewife Life” that he accepted the calling and became a shaman on Nov. 14.

“I visited six mountains, including Gyeryong and Taebaek, and Baekma River as part of the formal deification process to proclaim myself as a shaman,” he said.

“I then received a document of proof from the House of Shaman at Inwang Mountain in early November. Three days later, I was deified and became an official shaman.”

One news outlet said Jung has developed a reputation for his interest in spirituality among television and film crews. His grandmother was reportedly a shaman.

Jung, who has developed a reputation for being a solid supporting actor, said he did not care if his shamanism harmed his career, because he was determined to embrace his spirituality.
