Faced with children who would rather chill out than clean their room, many parents have suggested that their offspring make a game out of their chores.
A group of Korean students have may have made that far-fetched plan a reality, by creating a mop that lets users play a video game while mopping.
The students of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology created the contraption for a student innovation contest at the 27th ACM User Interface Software and Technology Symposium held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The device, created by Cha Se-jin, Kim Han-jong, and Kim Sun-joon won the “People's Choice” award.
The games, which appear on a screen at the top of the mop head, include a golf game.
The students were challenged to make "innovative household interfaces" with the software program, Kinoma Create.
The institution's official website announced that the team “created an interactive mop that provides a more effective and enjoyable experience and won the 1st place."
