'I might debut as actress,' says rumormonger
Hong Ga-hye, a self-proclaimed civilian diver who lied about the government rescue effort of the Sewol sinking in Jindo, enraged the public even further with her post-MBN interview tweets.
“Are you guys jealous that I went on national television to have an interview? If you’re filled with that much of wry envy, then you all must get down here to Jindo and talk to me face to face. Who knows? I might debut as an actress after this,” wrote Hong on her Twitter account.
She previously claimed that the government is not doing their best to save the victims, saying, “Civilian divers were told to not sweat over rescue efforts, and leave after killing some time.”
Her claim was later refuted by the West Regional Headquarters of Korea Coast Guard which released a statement on April 18. It read, “Unlike Hong’s allegations, the Coast Guard has never said or done anything that might hamper the rescue effort.”
Hong turned herself in Sunday at 10 p.m. to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency. Asked if she had anything to say, she said, “Nothing. I’m confused and I’m just sorry.”
