A group of business people who have been running illegal rackets have been caught, renting out these cars for as much 1.8 million won a day.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, 48 persons, including a 28-year-old Lim who is a proprietor of a café, has been running the operation, renting out the supercars valued at 300 million won ($270,000) at 1-1.8 million won ($9,000-16,000) a day.

The operators have been running the business without registering them as rentals, handing back 10 percent of the profits to the owners.

As part of the promotion, the operators said they have full insurance and there would be no problems even if there are accidents.

In fact, this was not true. One of those who rented the cars had a minor accident and had to pay 3 million won ($2,700) in compensation.

“They rented out the cars with properly licensed plates although they were not registered as rented cars. So those who rented the cars through the Internet were not suspicious,” a police officer investigating the case said.
