Volcker, 82, Engaged to Assistant

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker has become engaged to his longtime assistant at 82, Bloomberg reported.

An economic adviser to President Barack Obama, Volcker proposed marriage on Thanksgiving Day, his assistant and fianc?e, Anke Dening, was quoted as saying in a phone interview. Volcker, a widower, is chairman of the president's Economic Recovery Advisory Board.

Dening, who said she has worked as Volcker's assistant for 20 years, declined to give details on how the former Fed chief proposed, according to Bloomberg. "That's private," she was quoted as saying.

A wedding date hasn't been set, Dening said.

볼커 전 FRB 의장 82세에 약혼
