'Domestic flights departing on Tuesdays are cheapest'

Tickets for domestic flights departing on Tuesdays are the cheapest compared to others, while tickets for flights departing on Fridays, when the weekend begins, are the most expensive, according to global travel search engine Kayak.
The findings were the results of the company's analysis on its flight search data from Nov. 1 last year to Jan. 31.
Kayak carried out the analysis as demand for domestic travel has increased due to COVID-19 pandemic-induced travel restrictions around the world.
According to the data, searches for domestic flights last year increased by 11 percent compared to 2019. Korea reported its first case of COVID-19 in January last year.
The company said the most-searched domestic route by users during the three-month period was the Seoul-Jeju route, noting that it was one of the world's busiest air routes with an average of 48,000 passengers using it per day.
Kayak said Jeju's popularity as a domestic travel destination is expected to continue this year as the resort island has become an alternative to overseas trips.
“Kayak recommends leaving on Tuesday if you are planning a trip to Jeju Island,” a Kayak official said. “In particular, when analyzing the Seoul-Jeju route by number of nights, a two-night schedule is usually the cheapest. When you are trying to plan a trip to Jeju for a reasonable price, you'd better remember the schedule of Tuesday departure and Thursday arrival.”
While the Seoul-Jeju route took the top spot among the most-searched domestic routes, the Busan-Jeju route ranked second, followed by the Daegu-Jeju and Busan-Seoul routes.
