Kumho Petrochemical strives to nurture global talent

Kumho Petrochemical has been redoubling efforts to nurture talented people who can demonstrate ability in the rapidly changing global market, the company said Sunday.
The company is focusing on training its human resources as it places greater importance on professionalism and leadership of its employees who work around the world in various sectors, including synthetic resins, fine chemistry and electron materials.
The firm operates diverse educational and management programs to help its employees in their self-development which eventually contributes to raising the competitive power of the company.
Since 2010, Kumho Petrochemical has operated a vocational qualification program designed to encourage employees to acquire certificates, such as those for certified public accountants, financial risk managers, chartered financial analysts and project management professionals.
Under the program, the company provides the necessary money, including tuition for private institutions.
The company also runs a program designed to nurture in-house lecturers by selecting excellent employees with more than five years experience in 14 core segments such as production and quality assurance.
The program is aimed at utilizing its employees' knowhow accumulated at worksite operations to improve the capabilities of the entire company. It also contributes to enhancing communication among employees, according to the company.
In an effort to strengthen the management ability of its executives and enhance personal exchanges with external educational institutions, Kumho Petrochemical has consistently supported its executives in completing business management courses run by leading business schools.
The company also operates the WINK program, offering special lectures by inviting outside specialists whose fields of specialization are varied ― ranging from literature to big data.
A special lecture is conducted monthly, targeting the entire upper management. Regular employees who are interested are also allowed to participate.
“Kumho Petrochemical will consistently expand educational and management programs that will contribute to increasing the company's competitiveness through employees' self-enrichment,” a Kumho Petrochemical official said.
Meanwhile, the company's management and unions completed their wage consultation and reached an agreement May 23, vowing to work together in dealing with the worsening business environment in global markets.
