VIDEO A day of a Korean psychiatrist living in a country that won't admit it needs one

South Korea has held the highest suicide rate in the OECD for years — more than double the global average. It also has one of the lowest doctor-to-patient ratios in the developed world. The math is grim, and well-documented. What it doesn't explain is why so many Koreans who need help still won't walk through a psychiatrist's door. The reason often comes down to two letters and a number. By Lee Min-young, Cho Hae-minUpscale fine-dining restaurants have been predominantly focused on European, molecular styles of cooking. However, there are Korean restaurants that serve Korean haute cuisine, elevating the dishes several steps above by presenting the elegance of traditional Korean cuisine using modern touches. One of those pioneers is Michelin one-starred Korean fine-dining restaurant BICENA, on the 81st level of the Lotte World Tower Signiel Hotel Seoul, the tallest skyscraper in the country. The food experience comes with a spectacular view from the top of the building, offering a panorama of Seoul's downtown skyline. And, of course, the quality of the food itself does the rest of the talking.“BICENA” stands for three Korean verbs that mean to “empty, fulfill and then share,” said Lucia Cho, 37, president of Gaon Society, which operates BICENA and the Michelin three-starred Gaon, during an interview with The Korea Times.Gaon Society initially started with the Korean traditional ceramic tableware brand KwangJuYo, run by her father Cho Tae-kwon. A taste of Mongolia at Central Asia Street (Part 2)

Video by Lee Min-young, Kim Kang-minThe last leg of our tour around the Central Asia Street in Seoul was 'Mongol Nomadic,' a Mongolian restaurant with a unique interior decked out with items that give visitors a taste of the traditional Mongolian nomadic lifestyle. This restaurant was not only a place where you can try authentic Mongolian dishes but also wear traditional Mongolian costumes and have your meal inside the ger, a Mongolian yert where nomads live and share food communally. Meat is essential to the Mongolian diet with sheep and goats forming the basis for much Mongolian cuisine. We tried Mongolian barbecue called 'Khorkhog' which is a staple across the country, meat-filled dumplings, both fried and steamed, and Mongolian stir-fried beef noodles. To sum up the whole food experience in one word: Heaven-sent.
