Heatwave advisory marks hottest day of the year

The summer heat is upon Korea. The mid-day high in Seoul, Gangneung, Chuncheon and Daegu reached 31-33C on Friday, marking it the hottest day of the year.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) issued a heatwave advisory in Gangwon and South Gyeongsang provinces at 11 a.m.
The sweltering weather is forecast to last throughout the weekend.
Seoul is expected to be cooler on Saturday with a maximum of below 30C, but in Daegu and some regions in Gangwon and South Gyeongsang the mercury is set to hit 34C. Sunday's weather is expected to be much the same, according to the KMA.
The heat is forecast to ease from Tuesday with a rain front approaching from south.
Rain is expected on Jeju Island on Tuesday and over the country on Wednesday.
