The earthquake-hit coastal city of Pohang continues to experience strong aftershocks following Wednesday’s 5.4-magnitude quake, the second-strongest since 1978.
A 3.6-magnitude aftershock occurred at 9:02 a.m. Thursday some eight kilometers north of the North Gyeongsang Province city.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said there had been 41 aftershocks.

The Ministry of Interior and Safety said 57 people were injured in Wednesday’s quake. Ten were taken to hospital.
The earthquake forced 1,536 people to flee their homes. They have been housed at 27 emergency shelters set up in gymnasiums, the authority said.
Authorities received 1,100 reports of damage to buildings and infrastructure, including schools, railways and factories.
The education ministry decided Wednesday to postpone the college scholastic attitude test (CSAT) for a week because of the quake. It was to take place today.
The KMA predicts the aftershocks will continue.
