Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2016, sponsored by Hanwha Group, one of Korea’s largest conglomerates, is scheduled to light up the Yeouido sky on Oct. 8.
The festival, which marks its 16th anniversary, is Hanwha’s social contribution project and has the slogan, “Sharing hope through flames.”
Japan’s Tamaya Kitahara Fireworks and Spain’s Pirotecnia Igual also will participate.
Although the festival’s opening ceremony is at 7 p.m., visitors can enjoy “Fireworks Village” that opens just for the day at 1 p.m. The village also features “fireworks road,” which runs from Yeouinaru subway station to Wonhyo Bridge.
The festival has various events and performances, including a party with DJ music after the fireworks.
The event will end with a “clean campaign,” where visitors are urged to clean up the site.
Subway trains will not stop at Yeouinaru station from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Visitors who have to return early can use nearby subway stations, including Saetgang and Yeouido.
Taxis to Yeouinaru station will also resume only after traffic control around the area is complete. Visitors are advised to use taxis after 10 p.m.
