Moon Jae-in may scrap UAE defense deal

President Moon Jae-in said he would revise a controversial defense deal with the United Arab Emirates.
In the New Year news conference at Cheong Wa Dae, Wednesday, Moon said he "will seek to revise defense agreements with the UAE should there be flaws."
His decision came a day after the departure of the UAE’s envoy for a meeting with Moon to lodge a protest for what is supposed to be Korea’s move to revise the defense deal that includes automatic participation in the event of an invasion in the Middle Eastern country.
The deal was made during a previous conservative government led by Lee Myung-bak to get a multi-billion-dollar deal for the construction of nuclear plants there.
