Condoms sales see huge rise on Xmas
/ YonhapCondoms sales were highest on Christmas Day and Christmas Eve last year, a survey by global convenience chain 7-Eleven shows. Condom sales soared 162 percent on Christmas Day and 96 percent on Christmas Eve, compared with average sales on normal days, according to the survey, released Tuesday. More condoms were sold in December than any other month. On Buddha’s Birthday, May 17, condom sales jumped 79 percent. So far this year, condom sales have been higher than last year. As of Dec. 21, sales had increased 31 percent from the same time last year. The increase in sales reportedly owes much to cheaper condoms selling below 5,000 won. Sales of these were up 40 percent this year. One particular store said 64 percent of the condoms it sold were the cheap brands.
