Man accused of spending spree with ex-girlfriend's stolen card

By Kang Aa-Young, Park Si-sooA man was accused of allegedly spending 1.6 million won ($1,500) using a credit card he had stolen from his ex-girlfriend.Busan Dongnae Police Station said the man, 26, surnamed Kim, broke into the woman’s home on May 27 and fled with her credit card. He allegedly used the card 117 times over six months, buying goods worth 1.6 million won.The victim realized her card was missing in December and reported it to police. She told police she had not realized the card was missing for some time because she did not sign up for a transaction messaging service to her mobile phone. Police traced the card’s transaction history, but it is not known whether the ex-boyfriend has admitted any wrongdoing. The two met through a chatting website.

If not treated immediately, her blood pressure would have dropped, causing her death.The cause of death is based on a statement by the girl’s father, Ko, 37, because the body has been buried for eight months, and the NFS could not find signs of internal bleeding.Ko claimed he kicked her ankle repeatedly before she died in March, leaving her unable to walk. The man’s family had asked the carrier to look after his safety. According to Incheon International Airport Police on Thursday, the man, 52, landed at the airport from Thailand last month to transfer to a Los Angeles flight. The man had been traveling in Thailand, but decided to return home to Los Angeles when symptoms of his disorder began. The man then told his family he was returning, police said.The family called Singapore Airlines and asked the airline to “keep an eye on him.” They also emailed a prescription for drugs to treat the disease. Choi Kyung-hwan and Lee Woo-hyun of the main opposition Liberty Korea Party (LPK) have been charged with bribery and violating the political fund law.Choi, 63, stands accused of accepting 100 million won ($93,720) from the state spy agency in 2014 when he was then deputy prime minister and finance minister.Choi is known to have been the right-hand man of the ousted President Park Geun-hye. Park is also facing an additional indictment for the same charge.Prosecutors believe the National Intelligence Service (NIS) provided former top government officials with billions of won from its state coffers, including some 3.8 billion won to Park from 2013-16.Lee, 61, is suspected of accepting about 1 billion won in illegal political funds from local business people in return for business favors, among others.Both denied the charges.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. on January 1 at an intersection south of Olympic Bridge in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The ambulance, with its siren sounding, was coming from North Chungcheong Province and heading to Seoul Asan Hospital. It was also carrying the three-month-old child’s parents and a nurse. Ko claimed his common-law wife, Lee, 35, also abused the girl, but said the beating did not cause her death.The parents reported the girl missing last month, but the father confessed Friday that he had left the body on a hill in the western coastal city of Gunsan in April.Forensic investigators said Monday the girl had three fractured ribs from what appeared to be external shock. The police investigation is continuing.
