A magnitude-3.5 aftershock struck regions near Gyeongju on Wednesday, the country's meteorological agency said. The area was hit by the strongest earthquake ever in South Korea's history last week.

The aftershock was detected at 11:53 a.m. in an area 10 kilometers southwest of the historical city, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
