Golden Disk Awards Congratulates SM Bands; but Fails to Bring Fairness By Han Sang-hee Staff Reporter Super Junior and Girls' Generation from SM Entertainment took home the Grand Prize and the Grand Prize for Digital Music Source, respectively, at the 2009 Golden Disk Awards held at the Olympic Hall, Thursday. The award for Best Hip Hop went to Epik High, while the Best Rock Award was given to Jang Ki-ha and the Faces. 4Minute and T-ara won Best Rookie Awards, while the Most Popular Singer Awards were given to Super Junior and SHINee. As one of the biggest music award ceremonies in Korea, the Golden Disk Awards started in 1986, and has honored numerous talented singers for the past years. Rourke’s 3rd Marriage

Hollywood star Mickey Rourke (57) is going to have his third marriage to a 33 years younger model. Mickey Rourke, who has made a successful comeback through the movie "The Wrestler," plans to wed Russian beauty Elena Kuletskaya in Russia in spring, New York Times reported. Rourke has been dating stunning blond model Kuletskaya (24) for several months and popped the question to her over dinner last week. He has told friends he's planning a Moscow wedding in April. Documentary Featuring Rain Claims 3 Asian TV Awards

By Han Sang-hee Staff Reporter A documentary featuring Korean singer and actor Rain won three awards at the 14th Asian Television Awards (ATA), according to the singer's agency J.Tune Entertainment, Friday. ``Hip Korea ― Rain,'' took home three awards, including the runner-up in the Best Music Program category, the Best Infotainment Program and the Best Cross Platform Content. The final announcement for the awards was confirmed at the ATA 2009 Gala Dinner held in Singapore, Dec. 3. The documentary featured the past, present and future of the 27-year-old, who starred in the recently released movie ``Ninja Assassin'' produced by the Wachowski brothers, with the dynamic city of Seoul as the backdrop. It carried the story of the young aspiring singer who had to work hard to make it to the top and also his ongoing efforts in not only singing, but also acting and designing. Will Yoo Seung-jun Come Back to Korea Next Year?

Former top Korean singer and dancer Yoo Seung-jun is seeking to enter the country in February for the first time in about eight years after he was deported for dodging mandatory military service. A local daily quoted an unidentified official from JC Group International, a Chinese agency representing Yoo, as saying that he is "considering entering the country in time with the domestic opening of the movie, 'Junior Soldiers.'" The official said that the agency was seeking to coincide the Korean opening of the movie in which Yoo makes his big screen debut with that in China set for Feb. 14. The 33-year-old Yoo has been banned from entering Korea after he obtained American citizenship in an apparent bid to evade military service shortly before his term was scheduled to commence in 2002. "We are considering sending Yoo to Korea to promote the movie. But we have to make a final decision as it is a highly sensitive issue," the official said. G-Dragon’s Boss Apologizes for Suggestive Performance

By Cho Jae-hyon Staff Reporter Yang Hyun-suk, CEO of YG Entertainment, which represents K-pop idol G-Dragon, made an apology, Friday, for an obscene performance by the 21-year-old Big Bang leader at his solo concert rated 12 and older. In a letter posted on the agency's Web site, Yang said, "I offer a deep apology for causing a dispute involving the concert as a producer who should have taken into consideration the possible impact pop music would have on the youth." His apology came one day after the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs asked prosecutors to investigate the Big Bang member, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, for reenacting sexual acts at the concern at Jamsil Gymnasium, Dec. 5 to 6.

Girls Generation Picked Best Girl Group

K-pop group Girls' Generation has been chosen as the year's girl group. A survey of 110,000 members conducted by Bugs, the local online music site, in November and December showed that the nine-member Girls' Generation beat KARA, f(x) and other girl groups to rank first in the segment of girl groups. Girls' Generation has been shining in the local music market since its debut in 2007 with a string of hits including ``Into the World,'' ``Girls' Generation,'' ``Kissing You,'' ``Baby Baby,'' ``Gee'' and ``Genie.'' Its members are Yoona, Tiffany, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Seohyun, Taeyeon, Jessica and Sunny. So Ji-sup, Lee Yo-won Named Best Actors

Korean heartthrob So Ji-sup and starlet Lee Yo-won have been selected by camera directors as the best actor and actress in the ``2009 Grimme Awards,'' the Korean Television Directors of Photography Association said, Thursday. So was acknowledged for his starring role in the SBS TV's hit drama ``Cain and Abel,'' while Lee won for her title role in MBC TV's mega-hit epic drama ``The Great Queen Seondeok.'' Chinese Actress’ Excessive Exposure

Renowned Chinese actress Bail Ling, 39, has got disgraced as she exposed her breast before numerous photographers from throughout the world in a film promotion party. Ivy Set to Hit TV Airwaves

K-pop singer Ivy will hit the airwaves Sunday, signaling her comeback to terrestrial TV after a two-year hiatus. The 27-year-old singer, who has been off the public radar since 2007 due to conflicts that arose after Ivy's former boyfriend threatened to make public sex videos of the couple, recently made a stage comeback, broadcast by a music cable channel. She will perform on an SBS TV music program on Sunday, which will be broadcast live. It will be the first time in about two years that she will appear on a terrestrial TV show.
