SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-wonBy Park Si-sooImprisoned SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won published a book Tuesday on how a company can help resolve social problems and how the government can support such enterprises.Chey is serving a prison term after receiving a four-year sentence in January last year for embezzlement.In the 229-page book titled “New Exploration, Social Enterprise,” the leader of the country’s third biggest conglomerate called for introducing a “Social Progress Credit” (SPC) program, under which companies fulfilling social objectives receive business favors from the government in compensation.“What about giving financial incentive to companies, like mileage points given to airline passengers, when they are committed to social work?” he wrote in the book. “If SPC is introduced, more investors will invest in such companies. Kim Jae-won, director of Korea Culture and Information Service (KOCIS)By Do Je-hae Veteran cultural official Kim Jae-won has been named to lead the Korea Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism announced Wednesday.Kim, 51, replaces Won Yong-ki as director of the KOCIS, a state-run agency for spreading Korea’s culture overseas. Won will return to the culture ministry to head its public communication office.Kim has served in various posts at the culture ministry. He headed the ministry's cultural content industry office before his KOCIS appointment.He led the Korea Culture Center in L.A., where he served from 2009 through 2012.
