Kim heads national agriculture college

Kim Nahm-suBy Lee Hyo-sikKim Nahm-su, 58, a former high-ranking official at the agriculture ministry, was appointed to head the Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries, the school said Monday. Kim had an inauguration ceremony at the school’s campus in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, on Jan. 27.Kim, born in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, began his career in 1984 at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Among other roles, he served as the head of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Services and director general of consumption science bureau at the agriculture ministry.“It is an honor to head the prestigious school that nurtures future leaders of Korea’s agriculture and fisheries industries,” Kim said. “I will do my best to further develop the college using my three decade-long knowhow and experience in the fields of agriculture and fisheries.”He graduated from Gyeongsang National University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture science in 1984. Collegian becomes first female Marine ROTC cadet

Kim Sang-aBy Jhoo Dong-chanKim Sang-a, 24, a sophomore at Jeju National University, has become the first female Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) cadet for the Marine Corps. He will take office on March 1 for a four-year term, succeeding Lim Duck-ho.“I will improve the school’s global competitiveness by encouraging faculties to conduct more research,” Lee said in a statement.He also pledged to strengthen cooperation with the industry and businesses.
