Last December it arrived in Asia for the first time in Korea, raising the curtain at the LG Arts Center in southern Seoul.The musical chose to weave Houston’s music, in addition to those featured in the original movie, with a dramatic plot revolving around world-class singer Rachel Marron and her newly hired bodyguard Frank Farmer.In terms of music, the performance heavily relies on the actress playing the lead role Rachel. Score desk at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center / Courtesy of SACClassical music connoisseurs can follow the score while listening to music at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center (SAC) in southern Seoul.The SAC, one of Korea's largest performing arts venues, announced Wednesday it will install four score-desk seats in the boxes on the third floor of the concert hall on Jan. 19.The score-desk seats are equipped with reading lights, enabling music lovers and students to study the score during the performance. Such score-desk seats are installed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York."We are excited to sell score-desk seats for the first time in Korea. Record numbers of visitors go to royal palaces

A record number of tourists visited ancient royal palaces in Korea last year, the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) announced Sunday.A total of 10.6 million visitors, including both Koreans and foreigners,  toured Gyeongbok, Changdeok, Changgyeong and Deoksu palaces, as well as Jongmyo Shrine. The number is a 17.8 percent increase from visitors the previous year.The number of foreign visitors to the palaces increased, in particular, by 60.3 percent with some 3.8 million visiting the attractions. This is the first time over three million foreign tourists visited Korea’s palaces in a year.Over five million tourists visited them in the first half of the year for the first time, and this increased to a record 10 million by the end of November.The most popular was Gyeongbok Palace with 6.02 million visitors, among which foreigners were 2.9 million.Changdeok was the second most popular with 1.82 million people followed by Deoksu Palace 1.55 million and Changdeok with 900,000. Seoul palaces visited by record number of 16.1 million people in 2016

The year 2016 saw a record number of people visit the four major palaces in the capital city of Seoul, the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) said Sunday.The CHA said the number of domestic and foreign visitors last year to the four palaces -- Gyeongbok, Changdeok, Changgyeong and Deoksu -- and Jongmyo Shrine amounted to 16.1 million, up by 17.8 percent from a year ago.Foreign visitors reached 3.83 million, passing the 3 million mark for the first time and up by a whopping 60.3 percent compared with the previous year.Among the four palaces, Gyeongbok Palace is found to be the most popular with more than 6 million visitors in total. Nearly 2.9 million foreigners visited the palace, while 1.8 million foreigners visited Changdeok Palace and 900,000 visited Changgyeong Palace. Many foreigners visited multiple palaces.The CHA said it plans to increase special night programs, proven popular with visitors, along with participatory programs, to continuously attract visitors inside and outside of the country.
