Classical music connoisseurs can follow the score while listening to music at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center (SAC) in southern Seoul.
The SAC, one of Korea's largest performing arts venues, announced Wednesday it will install four score-desk seats in the boxes on the third floor of the concert hall on Jan. 19.
The score-desk seats are equipped with reading lights, enabling music lovers and students to study the score during the performance. Such score-desk seats are installed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
"We are excited to sell score-desk seats for the first time in Korea. We hope it will breathe fresh life into the concert-going culture of Korea," SAC President Ko Hak-chan said in a press release.
The first event available with the score-desk seats is SAC's monthly concert series "11 O'Clock Concert" on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. This month's morning concert features conductor Suh Jin, pianist Cho Jae-hyuck, violinist Kim Dong-hyun and the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra.
However, the score-desk seats will not be available for all concerts as the seats will be sold under agreements with the agency for each event. For more information, visit sac.or.kr or call 02-580-1300.
