Daesung, a member of popular K-pop boy band BIGBANG, joined the army on Tuesday to fulfill his military duty.
His enlistment makes it four out of five band members who are in barracks -- G-Dragon and Taeyang in an army boot camp and T.O.P as a police officer in an alternative service. Seungri is the only member undrafted. His enlistment date has not yet been decided.
Daesung will receive five weeks of basic training at a boot camp in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, before being assigned to a base where he will stay in uniform for 21 months.
All able-bodied Korean men are required to serve in the military for about two years, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War that ended in a truce, not a peace treaty.
