Nearly 40,000 teenagers treated for depression in 2018

Park Kyung-mee of the Democratic Party of Korea, the number of young people who have been treated for depression increased 65.2 percent in two years from 22,538 in 2016 to 37,233 in 2018. Those diagnosed with anxiety disorder also increased from 14,126 in 2016 to 18,220 last year. In the same period, the number of teenagers suffering panic disorder grew from 1,966 to 2,928 and that of young people struggling from adjustment disorder increased from 10,370 to 12,919. Some 4,800 teenagers were treated for sleep disorder, which was up by 644 from two years earlier.
