Animals to get own airport terminal

John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York is to open a terminal reserved for animals.
The 16,537-square-meter multi-purpose animal handling and air cargo facility will be called "The Ark at JFK."
Racebrook Portfolio Company designed the world’s only privately owned animal terminal, which has U.S. Department of Agriculture approval.
The $48 million (56.4 billion won) quarantine facility for import and export of horses, pets, birds and livestock is due to open next year. It will cost animal owners $50 (59,000 won) per animal per day.
“Paradise 4 Paws” -- reserved for canine guests -- features bone-shaped splashing pools, massage therapy and spa services.
”Cat Adventure Jungle” for feline guests has trees to climb and a view of an aquarium.
Some media reports are doubtful about the plan.
“The deeply problematic infantilization of pets is a current that crosses through all classes in the U.S,” one report said. “The worshipful treatment of pets may be the thing that unites all Americans.”
