Nepal quake death toll hits 2,000
A deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal Saturday has left more than 2,000 dead. It is the worst tremor to hit the Southeast Asian country in 80 years.
Police in Nepal have confirmed 1,953 dead in the country, while 53 were killed in India, and 17 in the Tibet region.
One Korean has been injured at a hydroelectric power plant construction site 70 kilometers north of the capital of Kathmandu.
The quake has brought down buildings in the capital and triggered a series of avalanches in the Himalayas.
A 7.8 quake struck 80 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu before noon, and a 6.6 scale aftershock followed an hour later, with smaller ripples continuing for hours.
