Governments of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have banned Hollywood’s blockbuster hit “Exodus: Gods and Kings” because they say the film is historically inaccurate.

Egypt’s Culture Minister Jabir Asfour was quoted on the state news agency EGYNews on Saturday saying the film was made from a Zionist viewpoint and that it “forged historical events.”

“The UAE has banned the film because of “many mistakes regarding Islam and other religions found in the movie,” Juma Obeid Al Leem, Director of Media Content Tracking at the National Media Council, was quoted as saying.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the 20th Century Fox film is a reenactment of the biblical story of the Jews’ epic escape from Egypt 3,000 years ago. American actor Christian Bale plays Moses and Australian actor Joel Edgerton plays Pharaoh Ramses.
