Father raises money as 'human punch bag' for leukemia-stricken son

A desperate father has turned himself into a human punching bag to raise money for his two-year old son, who has leukemia, according to a report by Shanghai List.
Xia Jun, 30, was reported to have been raising money on the streets of Beijing. He wears a white T-shirt with red Chinese characters reading, "Human punching bag, 10 yuan ($1.63) per punch.”
His donation box was covered with his son Guo Guo's diagnosis certificates from hospitals dating from October last year, when doctors suggested that the family take their son from Sichuan to Beijing for better treatment.
The family needs more than 700,000 yuan ($113,874) to pay for the treatment, the report said.
"It will take him at least two-and-a-half years to go through the critical phase, including the three stages of rejection, infection and recurrence," the report quoted Guo Guo's doctor, Wang Jingbo as saying.
"But the first year will be the most dangerous stage for him as he's so young. His later treatment will cost around 400,000 yuan ($65,071)."
So far, Xia has raised 10,000 yuan ($16,274.19) on the streets of Beijing.
