Do the housework, media mogul tells husbands

Married women’s success in business would get a huge boost if their husbands were prepared to get their hands dirty with house chores, says renowned Chinese business woman and talk show host Yang Lan.
The co-founder and chairperson of the Sun Media Group and the Sun Culture Foundation said women should not be shackled to house chores.
“Sixty-one percent of women and 74 percent of men
in East Asia are engaged in businesses, and yet less than 10 percent of the females hold executive posts,” Yang told a forum entitled “Women's Leadership and Workplace Diversity ― Benefits to Businesses.”
Hosted by the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN WOMEN), the event was held in Beijing on Oct. 31.
“Think rather to invest in yourselves rather than trying to outpace male competitors,” said Yang. “That will help you in the career world.”
She referred to a television reality show “Dad, Where Are We Going?” about fathers and pre-teen children spending quality time away from mothers, as an example of how fathers should behave. Originally introduced on Korea’s MBC, the format was sold to China’s Hunan Television in 2013.
Known as the Chinese Ophra Winfrey, Yang was named as one of the “100 World’s Most Powerful Women in Forbes magazine last year.
