Look at the dog, know the owner
Look at the dog and you will know who the owner is, says a research team at the University of British Columbia as reported in Psychology Today.
Perhaps it is no surprise that people prefer dogs that resemble their appearance but the research has shown that the “personality” becomes alike as well.
According to Prof. Stanley Corin, the resemblance begins from the hairstyle to the lifestyle.
People with long hair tend to prefer springer spaniels or beagles with their drooping ears while those with shorter hairdo go for Siberian huskies or basenjis with spiky ears that shoot up into the skies.
“In addition to appearances, pet dogs tend to take on the characteristics of their owners since they usually spend quite of bit of time with them,” said animal specialist Lynn Hoover.
As a result, the pets adopt preferences from food to how they react to certain circumstances, such as being calm or very temperamental.
