Boy kills grandpa, 63, 'It's my first knockout'

A 16-year-old boy who killed a frail 63-year-old grandfather with one punch before bragging about his “first knockout” has been locked up for three years, the Daily Mail reported.

After hitting retired council worker David Hutchinson in an unprovoked attack in Nelson, Lancashire, Lukas Karpavicius turned to his friends, laughing, and said, “Look what I’ve done. It’s my first knockout.”

Judge Anthony Russell QC, sentencing, said Hutchinson had the “misfortune” of meeting the drunken Lithuanian national as he was making his way from a friend’s birthday party.

He was struck from behind to the face with such force that he suffered a broken right jaw and in his resulting fall he fractured his left skull near to the eye socket which caused bleeding in the brain.

In a victim impact statement, Hutchinson’s daughter Michelle, said, “‘I am struggling to understand why this person who assaulted my dad chose him.”

Following sentencing as she left the courtroom in her wheelchair, Hutchinson’s mother said, ”He’s a murderer, he’s a bloody murderer.”
