Why work when money comes rolling in?
A U.K. couple claims 17,680 British pounds (30 million won) a year in welfare benefits. That is 2.5 million won per month. They do nothing, and the money keeps rolling in from the government.
Danny Creamer, 21, and Gina Allan, 18, receive 340 pounds (580,000 won) a week: 150 pounds (255,000 won) in housing benefit, 60 pounds (100,000 won) in child tax credit, 20 pounds (34,000 won) child benefit and 110 pounds (187,000 won) in job-searching allowance. In addition, out of their monthly rent of 625 pounds (1 million won), they only pay 25.
It is all funded by taxpayers’ money, and yet they say they are stuck in the system and feel trapped, the Sun said in a report.
They claim they are entitled to that money because their parents have been paying taxes for years.
Furthermore, the couple says with their education, they can’t find work that pays more than 1,473 pounds a month (2,500,000 won).
“My dad earns 65,000 pounds a year, so he’s paid more than his fair share of taxes.
Although [our parents] would rather we weren’t in this situation, but they understand why. I’m sure they’d rather it went to us than see us struggle.
There’s just no incentive to find work when we’ve got a better lifestyle than if we were to go out and work for 35-40 hours every week.
Why would we give this up? The fault lies with the system, not us. We can’t help it, we’re stuck.” Admitted Danny, recently who quit his job as a supermarket shelf-stacker.
