’Just can’t stand dating unattractive men’

An attractive woman dating an average guy will break up with him faster than if she was dating a good looking and handsome man, a recent survey shows.

The survey was conducted to prove the hypothesis “can two people with the same attraction level have a lasting relationship,” by research teams from the universities of Stirling, Liverpool and Manchester.

Prior to the survey, the researchers tried to find the reason behind Hollywood star Angelina Jolie’s two failed marriages with Jonny Lee Miller and William Robert Thornton but six years of an on-going lengthy relationship with Brad Pitt.

After rating the attractiveness of 100 or more couples, the researchers observed the length of their relationship. They found out that no direct correlation existed between the men’s looks and the relationship period.

However, when the attractiveness of women was positioned much higher than men in some couples, the going-out period ended much quickly, lasting less than few months.

“The result manifests the dominant power of women in relationships with men. It indicates that beautiful women acknowledge her power to choose men in the crowd. So, if the man she is currently dating is unsatisfying, she will seek a new partner,” a leading researcher Rob Burris, a psychologist at Liverpool University, said.

If male partners’ looks were far-behind that of the female, his jealousy increased the possibility of break up. Vise versa, if woman had less attractive figure than the man, the relationship lasted longer because she was satisfied.

“People have tendency of going out with those who are as good looking as themselves, so an ideal date for men will be those who have the same level of attractiveness to them” said, Dr Burris. This survey has been published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and released by Daily Mail.
