Navigation gives false direction to truck driver

By Lee Seung-joon

When the man drove the truck, flashing the word “Phenomenal” on the back, he showed anything but phenomenal driving skill as he got himself stuck between two buildings.

Earlier this week, the driver was delivering soft drinks to a convenience store in the small town in England. The 13-ton truck driver looked for a parking lot when he turned to the narrow alley.

As he blindly followed the directions from his automotive navigation system, he continued down the lane until the truck got completely wedged between an estate agency and a house. The driver was able to push through the head of the truck by folding the side mirrors, but the rest did not make it to the other side of the alley.

Mike Clifford, landlord at the nearby hotel, said, “Even if the truck could fit through the exit he wouldn't have been able to turn without hitting the side of the property.'

The Ian Crank Store Company owned driver had to stay overnight and sleep in the truck until a rescue team figured out a way.

The team spent six hours pushing and pulling to get the truck back up. The process caused small damage to the truck, but it wasn’t anything more than what it had suffered already.

Ian Crank, boss of Ian Crank, said the driver has now been suspended.
