’Teen claiming to be a vampire breaks into woman’s bedroom’

A man who broke into a woman's bedroom and tried to bite her neck while hissing has been arrested after he told police he was a vampire, the British Daily Mail newspaper reported Aug. 16.

Lyle Monroe Bensley begged officers in Galveston, Texas, to arrest him because he said he “needed to feed” and did not want to kill them.

The 19-year-old was arrested on Saturday on a charge of burglary with intent to commit assault after he kicked down the door of the ocean-front apartment of the woman he did not know wearing just his boxer shorts, the report said.

According to police, Bensley, who is covered with tattoos, made his way into the bedroom of the woman growling and hissing before hitting her in her bed and trying to bite the back of her neck.

He allegedly then dragged her into the hallway, before she escaped, running to a parking lot where she got into a car driven by a neighbor.

Bensley chased her and hit the car as it sped off. Police arrested him after a short chase when they heard shrieking and growling coming from the parking lot.

Bensley told the officers, “I'm a vampire and I've been alive for over 500 years,” the newspaper said.

Doctors said that he did not appear to be under the influence of drugs. Bensley is being held under a mental health order, it said.
