Strauss-Kahn faces another sexual assault accusation

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is facing an accusation of another sexual assault amidst hopes of his political comeback.

Strauss-Kahn was a front-runner for the French Socialist Party presidential primaries until his arrest in New York. While recent news of inconsistent testimonies from the victim brought hopes of his political return, The Associated Press reported a new allegation of sexual assault filed by a French writer, Tristane Banon.

David Koubbi, Banon’s lawyer, said that he will be filing the criminal complaint on Tuesday with the prosecutors and French authorities.

Banon’s mother, Anne Mansouret, is also an accomplished politician in the Socialist Party who is currently a member of the French parliament. She also came forth to support her daughter’s story.

Mansouret has claimed to have told her daughter, immediately after the alleged assault in 2003, to maintain silence about the attack out of concern for both her and her daughter’s careers.

With continuous sudden changes occurring on the Strauss-Kahn affair in both New York and Paris, the outcome of the French presidential election looks as unpredictable as the fate of the former head of IMF.
