Gadhafi orders troops to rape to quell rallies: ICC

Muammar Gadhafi, dictator of Libya, has shocked the world as he is alleged to instigate his troops to quell street demonstration by raping women. It is also reported that the Libyan president handed out Viagra pills to soldiers for similar purpose.

Moreno-Ocampo, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), said on Wednesday that they have strong indications that hundreds of women had been raped in the Libyan government’s act to stop the uprising in order to create fear among rebels, according to BBC.

He is likely to add rape to the war crime charges against Gadhafi. Moreno-Ocampo has asked the court's judges to issue arrest warrants for three top leaders. “That's why we had doubts at the beginning, but now we are more convinced. Apparently, [Gadhafi] decided to punish, using rape," Moreno-Ocampo said.

The chief prosecutor criticized Gadhafi’s tactic as a cruel and inhumane act that human beings that should not take.
