Earless rabbit born in Japan

An earless bunny was born near Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant, giving rise to fears that nuclear radiation leak is worse than expected and deformed human babies may be next on the list, the International Business Times reported on Monday.

A member with the ID ‘yuunosato’ posted a video clip on Youtube under the title ‘Earless bunny born after Tokyo Electric Power Company Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.’

“After the nuclear accident, the government and media said there was no immediate effect on health,” wrote ‘Yuunosato’ in a description of the film. “But in the town of Namie Tsushima, which is outside the 30km area of the mandatory evacuation zone, a deformed rabbit was born. The life cycle of rabbits are quicker than human. I wonder if humans are next.”

While some raised doubts about the credibility of the video, many voiced their concerns.

21일 동영상 전문 사이트 유튜브에는 ‘yuunosato’라는 아이디의 日 네티즌이 ‘도쿄 전력 후쿠시마 원전 사고 이후 출생한 귀 없는 새끼 토끼’라는 제목으로 충격의 동영상을 게재했다.

영상 속에는 귀 없는 새끼 토끼가 정상적인 토끼들 사이에서 풀을 뜯어 먹고 있다. 작은 몸집의 새끼 토끼는 귀가 없어서 어색한 모습으로 영상을 접한 많은 네티즌들을 충격에 빠뜨렸다.

‘yuunosato’는 “후쿠시마 원전 사고 후 정부는 건강에 피해가 없다고 보도를 계속하고 있지만 대피 구역인 원전 반경 30km 이내에 포함되지 않은 나미에마치 츠시마에서 귀 없는 토끼가 태어났다. 생애 주기가 빠른 토끼 다음은 인간의 차례가 될 것인가”라는 글을 덧붙였다.

한편 지난 18일에는 일본의 한 온라인 커뮤니티에 도쿄 부근에서 촬영된 기형 꽃들의 사진이 게재돼 후쿠시마 원전 사고로 인한 방사능이 원인으로 제기된 바 있다.
